The IEP Australia Fellowship program includes members from a broad range of backgrounds right around the country.

John Sharrock FIEP is one of the long-standing members of our sector, with about 25 years of service to his name. He’s been involved with Disability Employment Services since 2006 and currently serves as Compliance Manager for Ostara Australia.

“I am often regarded as a quiet achiever and a straight shooter, and I have earned the reputation of being the ‘last man standing’,” he says.

“My ability to process significant volumes of work within established timelines ensures that I consistently meet deadlines. I am not hesitant to voice my concerns if I believe a proposed idea may not yield the best outcomes for stakeholders in the Employment Sector.”

That experience, John says, has shown him the importance of innovative thinking.

“Throughout my career, I have gained insights from both sides of funding arrangements and various iterations of employment services in Australia.

“This experience provides me with a unique perspective on employability. I have witnessed firsthand how carefully structured programs, when managed competently and supported by dedicated providers, can thrive in collaboration with employers and the community. Conversely, I have also seen programs falter when any of these elements are found lacking.

John says he remains committed to his career, upholding the belief that every program has the potential for success when implemented effectively.

“My fellowship in the IEP empowers me to contribute to the advancement of employment services both locally and internationally.

“I look forward to future opportunities and the assistance I can offer in this vital field.”

And we are hugely grateful to have John as part of our program, which was established to give members the opportunity to connect with sector leaders around the country, sharing best practice and ideas to improve the quality of service our providers deliver.
