Register for the IEP Journal 14 Launch

The IEP is proud to announce Miguel Peromingo as Guest Editor for the latest edition of the IEP Journal: Returning Citizens – How Employability Professionals Can Support Justice-Impacted Individuals Upon Release.

With a wealth of experience as a freelance consultant and writer, Miguel has worked extensively with government institutions, private employment services and third-sector providers to support vulnerable groups in the labour market. His expertise in human-centred employment service delivery and the use of advanced matching technology makes him a fitting choice to lead this vital edition of the Journal.

Journal 14 will shed light on the challenges and opportunities facing individuals released from prison, emphasising the transformative role employability services can play in their reintegration.

“This edition focuses on the support to people released from prison and how integration into the labour market can help them take an active part in society instead of reoffending,” says Miguel.

“The examples from UK, Australia, Lithuania, Belgium, France, Spain, USA and the Netherlands tell the personal journeys of returning citizens and how employability services provided holistic support, from vocational training in-prison to working on employer attitudes, to find and stay in a job and ultimately return to freedom.”

Miguel’s motivation for guest editing this edition of the IEP Journal is deeply rooted in the need to raise awareness about employment support for justice-impacted individuals.

“Returning citizens are an under-served group because of societal bias, but also because there is a lack of information around what employability services could do to help. I want to raise awareness on the good work that is already being done in the field and encourage networking between crucial stakeholders like employers, employment services, training institutes, prison staff, policy makers and ex-offenders.”

As a platform for innovation and knowledge-sharing, the IEP Journal plays a vital role in advancing the employability sector.

“The Journal allows experts to discuss employability topics from different angles which can spark new ideas, provide deep dives and create partnerships for better employment services delivery,” Miguel says.

Save the Date: Journal 14 Launch

The latest Journal will be launched at a webinar on 30th April where Miguel will highlight successful strategies for the inclusion of returning citizens. Dutch temporary work agency Adecco will present global case studies, while the Lithuanian public employment service will showcase local programs designed to integrate justice-impacted individuals into the workforce.

This edition of the IEP Journal is a must-read for all employability professionals looking to deepen their understanding of how to support returning citizens effectively. Through shared knowledge and collaboration, the employability sector can play a pivotal role in breaking cycles of reoffending and creating pathways to sustainable employment.
