The City of London Corporation’s Adult Skills, Apprenticeship and Education Service (ASES) has officially joined the Institute of Employability Professionals (IEP) as a Corporate Affiliate Partner, marking a significant milestone in the organisation’s commitment to advancing employment and skills development across London.

The decision to join IEP as a Corporate Affiliate Partner aligns with ASES’ strategic objectives for expanding impact and enhancing service delivery. The partnership will provide opportunities to champion and share best practice through workshops and webinars, enabling the organisation to showcase its employability provision to a wider professional audience.

ASES anticipates identifying best practices and lessons learned from other providers within the IEP network, potentially informing future service development and initiative design. The partnership also opens avenues for growth through networking and peer-to-peer connections with like-minded organisations, creating potential for joint initiatives focused on supporting the most marginalised and disadvantaged learners.

Additional benefits include ASES gaining access to a comprehensive suite of award-winning IEP Learning Academy programs and regular e-newsletters – including EP and the Learning Network Bulletin – providing regular industry updates and best practice insights. This in turn supports ASES’ commitment to continuous improvement and professional development of staff.

Through this Corporate Affiliate Partnership with the IEP, ASES strengthens its position as a leading voice in London’s employability and skills landscape while expanding its capacity to drive economic growth and prosperity across the capital.

About ASES

The Adult Skills, Apprenticeship and Education Service operates as a specialist learning provider dedicated to harnessing the transformative power of education. The organisation delivers comprehensive skills, educational, training, and employability provision specifically designed to strengthen London’s economy while meeting the dual needs of employers and learners across the capital.

ASES focuses on several key areas of service delivery. Through skills development initiatives, the organisation ensures London’s workforce is equipped with the necessary abilities to excel in their respective fields, offering national accredited qualifications, vocational training programmes, tailored employability support, and continuous professional development opportunities.

The service places significant emphasis on education, working to make educational resources accessible to all learners while collaborating closely with local educational institutions across London to enhance their offerings and expand their reach.

Training programmes form another cornerstone of ASES’s work, with the organisation collaborating directly with employers to develop tailored training initiatives that serve both individual needs and the local economy. Notable examples include Digital Skills and basic IT courses, Digital Skills Apprenticeships, and Digital (Cyber Security and Data Science) and Green Bootcamp provision, all co-designed with local employers to meet current and future workforce demands.

The organisation also works extensively to improve employability services, providing tailored support to help individuals overcome personal or workforce barriers to secure employment and succeed in their chosen careers. ASES brings employers and learners together through scheduled employer events, often held in community settings such as the Golden Lane Community Centre, and runs specialist events targeting marginalised and isolated priority groups, including SEND employer events at Mansion House.

At the core of ASES’s mission lies extensive outreach activities specifically designed to support those most vulnerable to poverty, exploitation, and social exclusion. The organisation’s dedicated Community Champions, deeply rooted within the communities they serve, possess first-hand understanding of the obstacles encountered by learners across London. These champions work across ten City of London housing estates spanning seven boroughs, customising their approach to effectively meet the unique needs of each community.
