The future of adult education is evolving – and S Knights is at the forefront, proudly hosting the Adult Skills Conference 2025 on 4 June at Millennium Point, Birmingham. The IEP are proud to be exhibiting at the event to bring our unique insight and resources to the conversation and look forward to joining our many colleagues in the Employability and Skills sector.

This high-impact event will bring together the changemakers of the Skills and Employability Sector for a day of bold ideas, sector-leading insights, and practical strategies to shape the future of adult learning and workforce development.

This year’s conference, chaired by IEP Fellow Jim Carley FIEP of Shaw Trust and headlined by risr/, is set to be a pivotal moment for the sector. Under the theme “Shaping the Future of Adult Skills”, the event will bring together thought leaders, practitioners, and policy influencers to explore how localised, devolved delivery can meet national employment and skills goals.

As the funding landscape shifts through devolution, Adult Skills Fund initiatives, Bootcamps, and employment-focused training, the conference will focus on what truly works. Delegates can expect rich discussions on lessons learned, innovative practice, and the real-world impact on adult learners.

S Knights is curating a dynamic and inclusive agenda tailored to a wide range of sector professionals. The conference is designed for training providers, colleges, and organisations delivering adult skills, as well as employability providers, awarding bodies, EdTech innovators, and sector consultants. It also welcomes community-based organisations that support individuals into work, along with public and private sector stakeholders who are committed to driving social mobility and advancing workforce development.

A compelling line-up of speakers has been confirmed, including Fliss Miller (South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority), Simon Ashworth (AELP), David Wastie (althaus), Jacqueline Oughton (Twin Group), and Matthew Howe (BT Group) – with more speakers to be announced shortly. From local authority insights to employer perspectives and provider-led success stories, the event promises a rich tapestry of knowledge and practical takeaways.
