Scott Parkin FIEP | FRSA - Chief Executive, IEP

Scott is Founder Director of Bridge Consultants and Chief Executive of the Institute of Employability Professionals (IEP). Passionate about the development of people across the public services sector he has spent over 25 years in the Employment, Social Care, Housing, Justice and Health-related service sectors within a number of private, public and voluntary sector organisations, from large national employers to SMEs.

Scott has a strong understanding of organisational cultures. He delivered a variety of employment programmes whilst at A4e, before spending a period working for the London Borough of Redbridge, leading a number of transformation projects centred around Social Care. Scott returned to the Employability sector with Reed in Partnership, Avanta and then Advance developing disability focused initiatives within this leading Housing Association. He has developed considerable experience in the Primary and Urgent Care sectors for Central Nottinghamshire Clinical Services and has also acted as Special Adviser on Health and Work to the Papworth Trust.

Scott ran the Action Team and Employment Zone programmes for Reed in Partnership in the early 2000s, building a strong reputation for performance and quality linked to successful innovation. In 2009, Scott became the Head of Employability for the International Learning Centre, where he doubled the size of the organisation, through strong performance management and a focus on business development and growth. 

At Avanta, Scott took on the role of North West Regional Director, overseeing the Work Programme Prime Contract implementation and other large national provision. During this time, he established the full integration of enterprise, skills and employability services across the business. 

Scott moved to Advance in 2012, taking on the role of Executive Director of Employment and Skills. He drove significant improvement across the business in both quality and performance and established Advance as a respected Work Choice Prime Contractor and Work Programme Subcontractor. He delivered a new three-year Employment and Skills Strategy and oversaw the design and implementation of the "One Advance" Strategy with the Executive Team, delivering significant cultural change. 

Scott has wide ranging professional experience in the Primary and Urgent Care sectors gained as Interim Director of Operations for Central Nottinghamshire Clinical Services and also acted as Special Adviser on Health and Work to the Papworth Trust, establishing a new innovative Reablement and Rehabilitation Service and Vocational Rehabilitation Centre. 

Over the past few years Scott has been very active in establishing and developing the Institute of Employability Professionals, where he was awarded their very first Fellowship (by application) in 2012, successfully transforming the Institute from grant funding to a commercial business and developing its Member base to over 8,000. He has also seen a significant growth in Corporate Affiliate and Strategic Partners and has overseen the development of the new Employability Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard (Level 4).

Last year he was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) and recently has been appointed to both the Executive and Board of the newly established ethical consultancy business ‘the good employability company ‘ where he is Director of Partnerships.

Scott has recently become Chief Executive of the IEP after 3 years as Executive Chairman and will be responsible for further qualifications, framework and standards development in other areas of the UK plus the launch of IEP services internationally.

Scott brings a wealth of experience in operational leadership and a well-developed strategic vision. He is adept at developing high performing teams that really make a difference to individuals and communities, delivering services that support all customers gain work, progress in work and sustain work that at all times focusses on independence.
