Membership Questions

What are the benefits of IEP membership?

There are numerous benefits of becoming a member of IEP.  You will gain an independent endorsement of your skills and experience from the Institute, enhancing your CV and helping you secure your career.

You’ll also be able to attend a range of networking events and access the latest training courses.

What criteria do I need to meet to become a Fellow/Associate/Member etc?

As you might expect, the grade of membership for which you might qualify will depend upon a mixture of experience, qualifications and references.  Guidance is provided as part of the application process.  Simply select the grade that you feel applies to you and the IEP team will let you know if you qualify.

What do I get for my membership fee?

In return for a modest annual fee, you get a range of services that help you develop and maintain your skills, knowledge and professional networks. These services include networking events, career support, mentoring and regular news updates.

How much does membership cost?

It depends on the level of membership. Fees start at £40 per annum for Affiliates and Associates. These rise to £70 for Members and Fellows pay £200 per annum.  Fee are tax deductible.

Can I claim tax relief on my membership subscription?

If you pay for your own membership subscriptions you can claim tax relief at 20% if you are basic rate taxpayer and 40% if you pay the higher rate.

Are there any membership requirements?

Yes.  IEP has four levels of membership and each has its own entry criteria.  Fellows are expected to have demonstrated a significant level of experience in the sector; Members should have at least 3 years in the sector and Associates would normally have at least one year’s experience. Affiliate level is available to any individual with an interest in the sector.

Can I use the IEP logo on my stationery?

You are welcome to use the IEP logo if you are a full Member or a Fellow of IEP.   However, we do ask that you meet the specifications laid out in the branding guidelines.  Logos and guideline can be downloaded from the MEDIA INFORMATION section of this site.

Once I become an IEP member can I start using the letters after my name straight away?

Yes.  As soon as your membership is confirmed you can use the designated letters after your name to confirm your professional status.  Associates - AIEP, Members (MIEP), Fellows (FIEP).  This does NOT apply for affliate members.

Can I recommend a colleague for membership?

IEP encourages you to introduce new members and we’ve made it easy for you to do so.  If you’re a member, once you have logged injust navigate to the 'Refer a Friend' page from your profile menu.  You can send your colleague a message directly from the page or make a note of a 'referral link'.  Either way, if your colleague takes up membership, you qualify to have your own membership paid for a whole year!

What happens if I leave my organisation and my IEP membership is sponsored by them?

 If you have joined a new organisation, contact your HR department to find out if they also sponsor IEP membership, and how you can be considered. Alternatively, you can easily renew online as an Individual by simply clicking on the ‘Renew your Membership Now’ link in your 'My IEP' profile and checking the Affiliate/Associate/Member/Fellow option in the Membership Information section. This will direct you to PayPal where you can pay the required amount.
