IEP Welcome Gower College Swansea as our Corporate Affiliate Partners

The IEP are delighted to announce that Gower College Swansea, one of the largest Colleges in Wales, has joined the IEP as our latest Corporate Affiliate Partners.

Gower College Swansea have a strong reputation for high quality teaching and learning and a commitment to supporting the needs of theirlocal community. The College operates over seven campuses across Swansea, which offer a broad range of academic, professional and vocational provision.

Speaking of the Partnership Cath Jenkins, Director of Employability at Gower College Swansea said "The College has a dedicated employability department delivering a range of innovative employment and career support to young people and adults in and around the Swansea area. This includes its flagship employability programme -  ‘Better Jobs, Better Futures’ - which encompasses a number of interrelated projects and activities aimed at supporting unemployed and underemployed people in Swansea to gain, retain and progress within employment and reducing the risk of young people becoming or remaining NEET.

Better Jobs, Better Futures works with both individuals and businesses to more effectively match people seeking new or better employment with local labour market opportunities. The programme delivers individually tailored support to individuals in and out of work, alongside bespoke workforce planning and development support for businesses, aimed at maximising in-work progression and the leverage of new recruitment opportunities. The College deliver a complete and continuous service to individuals and employers with the aim of supporting clients not only to gain and retain employment, but also to prepare for longer-term career advancement. This support works hand-in-hand with the College’s wider employer engagement and delivery, and includes referral to the work-based learning support available through their Apprenticeship provision and other workforce upskilling programmes.

The College works closely with a wide range of referral and delivery partners to meet the needs of the local community and to integrate employment support where possible across the breadth of their provision for learners and clients of all ages and abilities.

In addition to the all-encompassing employability support available through initiatives like Better Jobs, Better Futures, the College also delivers targeted interventions and approaches, where required, to meet specific needs and opportunities. This includes the development and delivery of innovative approaches to meeting the employability and skills needs of ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) learners, as well as ground-breaking work with HMP Swansea aimed at developing stronger employment pathways for offenders and ex-offenders.
