In this series, we interview graduates of our IEP Learning Academy programs about their experiences on the courses and how it feeds into their work as employability professionals.

This week we are delighted to share the success story of Foysol Miah AIEP, ESOL Lead and Employability Trainer at Serco, who completed the IEP Gold Award in Artificial Intelligence for Employability in August.

“The course has been very informative and thorough, and it has provided me with excellent background knowledge on how I can best use AI tools during my Learning & Development taught sessions,” said Foysol. “It has completely changed my approach and how I train participants in their quest to securing sustainable long-term employment.”

Foysol was a finalist at the IEP Learning Awards at IEP Basecamp in the category of  Award in AI for Employability Learner of the Year 2024 (sponsored by Getmee AI).

Foysol said on LinkedIn that he was incredibly honoured to be nominated as a finalist. “This recognition is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion I’ve poured into my journey in AI. Thank you to everyone at Serco for their support including Theresa Comiskey. I am truly grateful for this humbling experience.”

What motivated you to enrol on the IEP Award in AI?

“I view the AI IEP course as an incredible chance to study, develop, and advance my expertise in this important field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This is thought to be the next big thing, so as a trainer, it’s critical that I absorb as much information as possible so that, even in my many guises, I can explain myself and help the participants of the future generation acquire beneficial skills that will enable them to advance and better themselves for a better tomorrow. According to the course description, the program provided an opportunity to gain new abilities and expand one’s knowledge of artificial intelligence—both of which I firmly believe can be used in a variety of different businesses. Additionally, AI has the very real ability to spur innovation and tackle difficult challenges.

Can you share some of those examples of how the skills you’ve gained from the course have been valuable in your work?

“One of the most important things I took away from the course was how useful data analysis can be. Together, when I worked with participants, we were also able to create a CV, which I then explained to the participants—whom I interact with every day—and tweaked a few of these to better their results. Some of the participants went on to land interviews where AI helped them identify relevant abilities and create a CV by tailoring it to the job description.

Has your journey on the AI course helped you learn things about yourself? If so, how?

“My development as a practitioner and my ability to learn new things have both benefited from taking the AI course. Although AI is thought to be complicated and difficult to understand, I have come to realise that I am able to adapt and remain resilient. This showed that I could adapt well to circumstances requiring continuous learning and improvement. It bolstered my confidence in my ability to learn new technology and adjust to quickly changing circumstances. The course challenged me to think critically and creatively as well.

What would you say to someone considering enrolling in the Award for AI course to encourage them to do so?

“Take it on! The future and the next generation are being shaped by AI. By signing up for this course, you are giving yourself the tools and learning new abilities that you may use to further your own development. The skills you acquire now will be highly sought after in the future. My recommendation is to prepare yourself and earn the certification. The material presented in this course, which links theory to real-world applications while letting you work on actual projects and witness the tangible effects of AI, is what sets it apart from others. This course lets you show off your creative side and develop critical thinking skills.

What were the Learning Academy team able to give you as a learner?

The email correspondence and assistance. You weren’t kept waiting for a response, and the response period was decent. The criteria were simple to understand and came with clear instructions, and the web platform was easy to use.
