The IEP was delighted to launch Issue #13 of the IEP Journal at a LiveLearnLAUNCH event last week focusing on the theme of social housing and employment.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our authors including those who joined us at the launch. A special acknowledgement to Lorenzo Hall FIEP (Managing Director of Transform & Achieve) and Gareth Young (Knowledge Exchange and Impact Fellow at University of Sheffield), who presented alongside Guest Editor Lynsey Sweeney FIEP (Managing Director of Communities that Work) and David Imber FIEP (Head of the Centre for Employability Excellence).

Discussions at the launch emphasised the importance of partnerships to tackle pressing issues like unemployment, economic inactivity, and inequity.

Lynsey highlighted how devolution is reshaping local service delivery, urging organisations to collaborate more effectively.

“Partnership is going to be so important going forward,” she said.

The Journal features insights from practitioners and policymakers who shared strategies for supporting marginalised groups, including ex-offenders and care leavers. Articles also explore the role of social housing in addressing key priorities like the net-zero transition and skills development.

Looking ahead, the IEP Summit in June 2025 will build on this Journal’s themes, aiming to inspire action and strengthen partnerships.

“We are still at the foothills of sector-wide engagement,” Sweeney noted, but the Journal offers a roadmap for progress.
