IEP Australia’s partnership with employment services provider Asuria is designed to ensure sustainable and measurable improvements for participants and practitioners.
And three months in, this two-year initiative has already started to deliver on its mission to elevate employability practices across the sector.
This progress is based on a solid foundation, established ahead of the launch of the Australian Centre for Delivering Employability Excellence in Practice (CDEEP) in October 2024.
There are three areas of focus that form that foundation.
- Involving stakeholders – including employers, employees, industry and participants – in the development of best practice or change opportunities, where invaluable insights and feedback can be harnessed to improve practice. By taking a collaborative approach, we ensure practices are aligned with the actual needs and expectations of those we serve, leading to more effective and relevant employability outcomes.
- Adopting a robust data analytics system to track and evaluate the effectiveness of initiatives to help make data- informed decisions. By leveraging data, we can identify trends, measure impact and continuously refine our strategies to achieve best practice results.
- By aligning the initiatives under the CDEEP with Asuria’s 2025-2027 Strategic Business Plan, we ensure that both practitioner and business teams are engaged, energised, and excited about the opportunity to embrace best practices and drive better employment outcomes for people. The projects will promote a transparent and open communication culture throughout the partnership. Regularly updating staff on the progress of the attainment of best practice, celebrating successes, and addressing challenges openly will help maintain engagement and morale. Encouraging staff to share their ideas and feedback will also foster a sense of ownership and accountability, driving the collective success of the CDEEP – not only at Asuria, but across our sector.
Shared approach
In the past, the establishment of a CDEEP has required the development and implementation of a series of projects designed to boost organisational performance and practice. But this partnership between Asuria and IEP has been put in place using a different approach.
Asuria’s2025-2027 Strategic Business Plan contains five strategic pillars, detailing where effort will be deployed, how and when resources are allocated, and desired states for best practice that will meet the outcomes of participants, employers and other stakeholders. A series of projects is about to commence that demonstrates the strategic directions for Asuria.

“What is different about this CDEEP is the establishment approach will involve alignment of each of Asuria’s strategic pillars, and all accompanying internal projects, with three Project CDEEP Pillars of Practice, designed for service excellence achieved through best practice,” Angela Connors FIEP, Project Manager for IEP Australia says.
“The Pillars of Practice will provide best practice evidence for transformation opportunities within and across the strategic projects, encouraging a whole-of-organisational cultural shift to service excellence that is underpinned by best practice. This will result in evidence of best practice in the CDEEP, having been tried and tested through the projects.”
Strategic project meets Pillars of Practice
Each of the three Pillars of Practice refers to a foundational element(s) or principle(s) that supports and guides the implementation of best practices within an organisation or project(s). In the context of the CDEEP, pillars are developed to align with Asuria’s strategic objectives and ensure service excellence.
These pillars encompass various aspects such as people excellence, data-driven decision-making, and best practice measures. By focusing on these key areas, Asuria can streamline its processes, enhance sustainable and measurable outcomes for participants, and cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and service excellence.
The Pillars of Practice for the Asuria and IEP partnership are:
- People excellence
- Business excellence
- Practitioner and participant relationship excellence
