The Institute of Employability Professionals (IEP) is delighted to welcome Alistair Kerr FIEP to the Fellowship, recognising his significant and longstanding contribution to inclusive employment, social value policy, and community wealth building across Scotland and the wider UK.
Alistair, Head of Partnerships & Development at PeoplePlus Scotland and Chair of The Community Wealth Advocacy Group, is widely known for his dedication to creating fairer opportunities for people living with disabilities and those furthest from the labour market. His Fellowship marks the latest milestone in a career defined by advocacy, leadership, and a deep commitment to social justice.
Reflecting on his work and the values that drive him, Alistair shares:
“I am a passionate advocate for people living with disabilities and those facing disadvantage across our communities. As Chair of The Community Wealth Advocacy Group in Scotland, I lead national and local initiatives that advance inclusive employment through sustainable procurement, community wealth building, and social value policy, ensuring that economic growth translates into real opportunities for those furthest from the labour market.”
He brings more than two decades of leadership across executive, board, and chair roles. Throughout this time, Alistair has championed the rights of disabled people and helped shape a more socially just society. His efforts have earned recognition from the Scottish Government as a Champion of its Sustainable Procurement Duty and Community Wealth ambitions, and he has worked extensively to embed these principles across SMEs, Third Sector organisations, and Supported Businesses.
His impact is widely felt across public, private, and voluntary sectors. Alistair’s influence extends through contributions to major national platforms, including National Disability Conferences, Commissionaires Meet the Buyer Events, Annual Procurement Conferences, Government Advisory Boards, and the RI World Congress.
Describing the ethos behind his work, he explains:
“My work is rooted in strategic collaboration with government departments, industry leaders, public, private and third-sector organisations to unlock pathways into employment for individuals who, without such policy interventions, might never have the chance to achieve their goals. I have played a key role in shaping inclusive economic strategies, influencing national procurement frameworks, and embedding social value principles into public sector commissioning.”
The IEP Fellowship is awarded to leaders who demonstrate extraordinary dedication to improving the employability sector, driving innovation, and creating lasting social impact. Alistair’s track record exemplifies those values.
As a Fellow, Alistair will continue championing the principles of equitable opportunity, sustainable procurement, and community-driven economic development – and will support the employability sector to build systems where every individual has the chance to thrive.
