IEP Update

Posted By Keith Faulkner CBE FIEP, Acting IEP Chair, 23 April 2017
Updated: 19 April 2017

Applications sought to join the Membership and Nominations Committee

Applications are invited for two new members to join the MNC.  Whilst current members are all Fellows, applications are sought from a wider circle of IEP members as part of the Board’s strategy to expand democracy and engagement throughout the membership.

What does the Committee do?

The Committee is responsible to the IEP Board for recommending:

a)    the qualifications and experience required for each grade of IEP membership

b)    ensuring that effective membership processes are in place and correctly administered by the executive

c)    assessing all applications for Fellowship of the IEP.

The Committee may also make recommendations to the Board, or may be asked by the Board to consider, any issue related to IEP Membership.

How often does the Committee meet?

The Committee generally meets formally about three to four times a year, usually in central London, but also holds conference calls on specific topics or Fellowship applications and makes initial assessments of applications by exchange of e-mails.

Who are the existing Committee members?

The Committee Chair is Keith Faulkner, the Deputy Chair is Sean Williams and the other current members are Stuart Vere and Stuart Knowles.  Following other MNC members standing down we want to broaden the range of expertise and experience on the Committee through these two new appointments.

Are expenses reimbursed?

As with all non-executive roles in the IEP expenses are not generally reimbursed although we are fortunate that many employers of IEP members do agree to encourage active engagement with the IEP by doing so.  In exceptional circumstances, if these expenses would inhibit a member taking up a Board or Committee role, some reimbursement might be considered.

What experience is required?

  • We are seeking Fellows or Members who meet the following criteria:
  • At least two years membership of the IEP
  • At least 5 years in a management or senior supervisory role
  • Experience as a member of a board, committee or taskforce.

How do I apply?

Please e-mail your application, titled ‘MNC Application’, to no later than 21st May 2017.

In that e-mail briefly confirm:

a)    your name, grade and approximate length of IEP membership

b)    the roles you have held over the last 5 years and

c)    the boards, committees or taskforces on which you have served.

Then, in no more than 300 words, please describe why you are interested in joining the MNC and what attributes, knowledge or  expertise you think you would particularly bring to the Committee’s work.  Finally provide a telephone number and e-mail address so that you can be contacted in the event of any questions.

We hope to be able to confirm those appointed to the Committee by mid-June.
