Employability Apprenticeship Trailblazer Coming Soon
The IEP is holding a special employer development group meeting next week to discuss our Employability Apprenticeship Trailblazer and agree what needs to be done next.
May 2017 sees the implementation of the Government’s Apprenticeship Levy and in many other sectors, working groups have been formed to consider the future needs of the workforce within the sector and to determine how new standards can be developed (trailblazers) in order that organisations can use apprenticeships to support the delivery of those needs.
The Trailblazer meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss the employability profession’s needs and begin to develop ideas on what ‘apprenticeship trailblazers' we may wish to develop.
In line with the IEP’s commitment to knowledge, learning and best practice sharing we are looking to better understand the synergies in skills and capabilities across other sectors so that when developing our ideas, we can ensure that the standards we develop facilitate vertical and horizontal career progression pathways. The IEP is central to the development of these standards and we are genuinely excited about the possibilities.
We have a packed agenda planned for the day with contributions from Scott Parkin who will talk about investing in employability people and Sam Rope, Group HR Director at Seetec, who will share with the group how she aligned apprenticeships to Seetec’s talent and succession strategy. Attendees will also hear about Working Links' and Seetec's experience of developing trailblazers within Justice.
A breakout session will review existing standards and frameworks, gap analysis, agreement and shortlisting of the sector’s needs and identification of potential areas for development. We will then agree how to get a trailblazer over the line, steps we will need to take and pitfalls to avoid.
