RBLI showcase employment services at three day recruitment event

Royal British Legion Industries’ employment division this month held a three-day recruitment event in order to showcase the wide range of employment services available to those who are looking to secure work.

The event, based in Tonbridge, began successfully on the first day with a street stall, where the RBLI Employment team met with local residents, promoting their work-related services including Building Better Opportunities, Work Routes, Skills, NCS and RBLI’s transformative employment support programme for veterans LifeWorks.

The second day saw RBLI’s Tonbridge branch, located on the town’s high street, hold a partnership day. This enabled local partners of RBLI, including Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, Insight Healthcare and Clarion Housing, the opportunity to meet new service users and network with other organisations who hold the same ambitions.

The event culminated on the third day, with an in-house job fair where high-profile employers including Arriva, McDonalds and Sainsbury’s looked to offer opportunities to find secure employment within their organisations.

Sainsbury’s Learning and Development Manager, Becky, said the event had been a great success too and allowed them to better interact individuals who are in search of work.

She added: “We thank RBLI for inviting us to the job fair in Tonbridge – it has been extremely engaging.

“Events such as these are vitally important in helping people of various backgrounds and skill sets secure rewarding employment and get their life back on track.”

RBLI Community Programme Manager Daisy Guy, who organised the event along with Russell Banner, Tanya Styles and Claire Matthews, said each day of the event was a resounding success.

“In total, we have had 30 people sign up for our employment programmes. Without these events, many of those people would still find themselves without support, without hope and possibly further away from employment.

“This is why it is crucial that we spread the word about the events our team are holding, so that more individuals can feel as though they have a future within the world of work.”

RBLI’s Capel Morris Centre, found on the charity’s 70-acre village will hold the next RBLI Employment job fair on the 25th August.
