Bursary winners certify their appreciation

IEP Members (pictured left with Scott Parkin FIEP), Anna Wharfe MIEP, Angela Takyar MIEP, Jignesh Vaidya MIEP, Kath Wood, MIEP and Laura Turner MIEP were in Birmingham last week to attend the IEP/ERSA Joint Conference ‘Working Towards Better Mental Health’.

They were awarded bursaries for the Conference as a way of developing their own CPD and progressing the IEP’s aims of developing the skills and knowledge of our members and helping them gain an insight into what is happening and what is new in the sector.

Speaking of the conference Jignesh said “I enjoyed the event very much, listening to experts sharing their experience in the field was good. It was great to network with other companies and share each other ideas and feedback.  At Remploy, we have good development when it comes to disabilities and I would encourage anyone if they haven’t attended this event to do so. I particularly enjoyed the ‘personal’ story at the end of the day and how one word can change people’s wellbeing.”

Angela found it a worthy event saying “The event had a good and very useful agenda, It was interactive which enabled organisations some exposure and there was networking in a relaxed environment. It was insightful and useful for organisations to share the way forward.  I think it is good to take steps to professionalise the industry that we are in and I urge individuals to take up membership and opportunities to participate as much as they can.”

Kath Wood said “"It was a good opportunity to get an overview of policy in the area of mental health and employment. This is not something I would hear much about in my day job. I particularly enjoyed hearing about the personal impact of what we do from a service-user and employer point of view."
