ERSA Consultation: Apprenticeships and older workers

Following ERSA's engagement with the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), they are gathering information to feed into the ESFA's future work on engaging older workers, both in and out of work, in apprenticeships.

To inform this work, please send your thoughts in response to the following questions to rick.wright@ersa.org.uk by c.o.p. on 23rd June:

  • What are some of the current barriers in engaging older people (over 50), both in and out of work, in apprenticeships?
  • What could the ESFA do to remove those barriers, particularly around national campaigns, communications and information? Do older people require different information and is the current tone and imagery helpful?
  • How have you adapted your practices and communications at the frontline to better engage older people in taking up apprenticeships? What works?
  • What more can the ESFA do to raise awareness of the benefits of apprenticeships with older people who are both out of work and in work?
  • Do you have case studies of older people you have helped into apprenticeships? If so, please attach / detail to support any future ESFA campaign.

If you have any questions, please do get in touch with Sam Windett at sam.windett@ersa.org.uk
